What do you do to support your own wellbeing? Do you have a regular practice that enables you to pause, breathe & connect to yourself?
Life can be busy & often all consuming so mapping out time for you is vital to your wellbeing both physically and mentally.
How often do you say things like -
'I don't have time',
' I'm not very good at....'
'I'm just too busy!'
If this sounds familiar - pause for a moment & notice. Consider how you are feeling: Tired? Energised? Stressed? Motivated? Consider without judgement you are just noticing. Notice the language you are using. Is it limiting? For example 'I can't because....' A great start point is right here, acknowledging where you are in this moment.
Wellbeing practices do not have to take loads of time, cost loads of money but consistency is key!
Ideas
Time Restricted:
If you feel you have no time set your alarm 10 mins earlier. Spend 3 mins watching your breath taking deep breaths in & out through the nose. Set a timer on your watch or your phone. After have a note pad & pen nearby & write down 3 things you are grateful for. This simple practice takes less than 10 minutes. It will enable you to start your day with a positive mindset which over time will filter into your life, you will see the positives first, it will become your default! By using breathwork first thing you are stabilising your nervous system. Rather than your mind being taken straight into whatever your day may bring you allow yourself space & time to settle. There are lots of different techniques you can use but keep it simple and manageable. If that means just silently repeating to yourself 'inhale, exhale' then that is enough!
Consistentcy
The more you repeat something the faster it will become a habit! Set yourself a plan, put it in your diary!
Book a date with yourself! You are worthy of your time & energy as much as everyone else! Ensure you get time to recuperate. If life is busy, maybe you are supporting others around you? Time for you is key - it's the equivalent of putting on your own oxygen mask first! When you are rested & grounded it enables you to hold space for others! Reiki sessions are a great way of creating time for you. Reiki reduces stress & is a perfect way to relax. It can help to alleviate pain, boost immune system & improve sleep. Overall enhancing wellbeing. Regular Reiki sessions can help you to generally feel better physically and mentally.
Cold water therapy is another great way of allocating short but regular practice with so many benefits! You only need to commit to 3 minutes. A cold water session with me also includes meditation and breathwork & in a 1:1 setting takes just 30 minutes!
Accountability
If you find it difficult to build your own routines maybe join a group! The Cold Dip Journal Club is held twice a month. Coming with others & meeting like minded people is a great way to motivate yourself to keep up a regular practice. Sessions at Mallard Way include meditation & Journaling time. Introducing simple accessible practices you can continue at home.
